Dear Pet Lovers, does your dog chew up stuff at home ? If yes, read this story below and you will know how dangerous it can be. Therefore, anybody have managed to stop your dog from chewing home stuff , do leave a comment below for sharing with other pet lovers. Story begins………..
I have anissuehere and need some advise. My sister 1+ , female shih tsu, is always biting house things such as tissue, newspapers, slippers, wood, cupboard etc…. anything on the floor goes to her mouth.
Mummy tried many ways to stop her. managed to stop her from biting live wire by sticking a double sided tape on the wire. So when she bites, her mouth hair stucks onto the sticky tape. Now she stop biting live wire…. phew….
2 days ago , mummy found that cutecute , my sister is not eating. Which is not her, cutecute is like ratatouille eats none stop 24/7 so this is unusual of her. The next day, mummy found her having difficulty to poo and when she finally did it, a thread came out together with it. So you know what she ate… Treads… . Is thread a danger to us pawdies ? Can thread tie up our colons ???
but this morning, mummy saw her biting something white.
What is that ??? mummy asked…where did you get that stuff.
Mummy and me got worried. What if mummy is not home, and she starts to dig for dangerous things to bite again. Anypawdy faced such problem before, how did your mummy stop you from biting.
OH NO !!! IT IS A NAIL
All Pet Lovers, be extra vigilant with your pets who love to chew.
Advises from Furiends :
From Atlas There are also sprays that deter biting (they taste like bitter apple and other ucky things). When we were younger and used to chew up things, Mommy gave us lots of ice cubes to chew on. Not only does it satisfy the chew urge, it also helps numb the gums where the teething might be bothering. A wet washcloth rolled up and frozen also was a good chew toy.
From Princess Bailey Check Cute cute’s gums and teeth, make sure there are no abscesses there. Some pups just like to chew, but we don’t want her to get hurt.
From Min Pin RescueWe know you may not want to hear this but we think she should be crated when you are not home for her own safety. Rabbit he eats everything he can get his mouth on. So mommy got a spray bottle and filled it up with water and when he does something naughty like that she sprays him with it and says no. Even if he is a couple of feet away from her she can still get him and he does not like it. So you might want to try that too. But, when you are not home for her own safety please crate her because she can really get hurt and we don’t want that. Mommy never leaves us uncrated when she is not home. Because we can get hurt by chewing on something and she does not want that to happen. Plus we love our crates we love them so much she will leave the doors open to them when she is cleaning the house and we will go and lay in them and we even know which one belongs to which one of us. Hope this helps you…..
From 12, Chappy & Whiskey crates work really well, and we dogs actually like being in them once we get used to them.
From Shiloh If you are sure there is no medical reason get her some hard rubber toys. When she begins to chew on something gently remove the forbidden item, tell her ‘thank you’ and hand her one of the acceptable toys. Eventually she’ll get the picture. Good Luck!
This is a story of the Southern Oregon’s largest animal shelter. Watch how dedicated this group animal shelter helpers and some of them are volunteers just to keep thousands and thousands of pets alive yearly. Fantastic group of people.
Dogs are our best friends therefore having more knowledge about your dogs are essential. Do you know that dogs can break their tails surprisingly easily - all it takes is landing on it at the wrong angle with the dog’s weight in some cases. Other hazards of day-to-day life can cause a break as well car doors, regular doors, gates, you stepping on it - a tail injury is something a dog is going to be at risk for, especially if that breed has a longer tail. You should be aware that if you even suspect a break, you should go to the vet to have it checked out. The tail of a dog has many interlocking bones that are similar to the vertebrae of your spine. The problem is that you need to have any break fixed immediately because the bones will begin to regrow within a few days. If the tail is not set properly, it can be permanently fixed at an odd angle that is disruptive to the dog. As pet lovers , you should always remember this - have dog safe in mind all the time.
It doesn’t sound that bad, but it’s not just about vanity: a way of defecation and urination, causing the dog to soil itself every time it uses the restroom - leaving you to clean up. You may not be able to tell whether you dog broke its tail. But there are some obvious signs such as pain, crying, sensitivity to the touch at a spot on the tail, or it look bent. The dog might also be unable to wag the tail or move it properly. However, dogs can break their tails in ways that do not cause these symptoms. If you are from a shelter home or your own dog has any kind of serious trauma to the tail it’s best to have it checked out.
Tails can also be dislocated, just like a regular bone, which can cause similar symptoms. Treatments depends on the extent of the injury and on the breed as well. Some vets will want to remove the tail entirely in some cases. In other cases, the break can fixed using surgery or little devices to hold the tail bones into place so they can heal properly. In this case, pet groomers cannot help you.
Luna is a sweet Lab mix who was found with a broken back and needs help to pay for her medical care. Here’s a short video of Luna. Luna’s Story
