Face it, we all have bad breath and so do our dogs…. And our dog dental care is important as ours. It is very crucial to make an appointment with the veterinarian to know If our dog teeth is strong and healthy. There are cases where disease may also cause bad breath or even gum disease. There is also other possibility if your dog is having healthy problems such as kidney failure, diabetes, nasal, skin infections and so on that again, may also cause bad breath.
This is a very common thing we all should know that disease starts with the gum. If your gum is weak and dirty, or contaminated, the will become red, swollen and sore. This is where the gums tend to separate from the teeth which create spaces that can gather more and more bacteria, plaque or tartar. You may not want to hear this but the worst part is, it can cause tooth and bone loss if it get worst.
It is just the same as us human. If we have toothache or gum pain, we tend to get fever and affects our whole body which can happen to our dogs too. These bacteria that gather around your gums and mouth can enter the bloodstream and affect major parts of your body organs such as the liver or kidney which are the most commonly affected.
There are ways to prevent these problems;
1. Good diet food is important such as milk to keep our dog’s teeth healthy and strong.
2. The right toy! Do not let your dog bite on objects which are harder and stronger than their teeth.
3. Brush, brush, and brush! Brush your dog’s teeth at least 3 to 4 times a week. I don’t have to tell you why
4. And get the right toothbrush!
When you dog’s teeth is healthy, you have less worries too
