Clicker Training

I like to share my real experience with dog training clicker. Recently, a good friend of mine
(Jia Wei) who is a dog trainer gave me a clicker for my dog. I brought it home and get my darling dog to sit, I click and I treat. Get my dog to down, I click and I treat. After couple of times doing this, my dog dont seem to understand or connect the clicker with trick and treats. After two days, I was about to give up seeing there’s no response from them. Then I spoke to my dog trainer friend and this is her advise. Watch Jia Wei training her pets at http://www.youtube.com/user/newbear95

The first time you purchase a clicker to train your dog, all you need to do is click and treat them without having them to do anything at all. Repeat this each time you offer them treats and do this for some time until they get the meaning that each time the clicker clicks, they get paid with treats.

Some dogs get the meaning after a few repeated clicks while others need more repetition to get the meaning of the clicker.

If your dog gets the meaning of the clicker, which is click = treats, then they should look at you for treats once they hear the clicker click. Sometimes, the sound of the clicker may be loud and if it does frightens your dog, you can mute the clicker by putting a blue tack on it so the sound will not be so loud. This is call Charging The Clicker.

Pet lovers, if you have 2 dogs, click and treat both the dogs at the same time so both will be able to connect with the clicker and get charged at the same time.
